I want to concentrate on the following verse: Psalm 1:3
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers (channels) of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
I love the reference to plants.. LOL One of the things that sticks out to me is being planted by the river. This is a comparison to those who do NOT walk in the council of the ungodly, stand in the path of sinners or sit in the seat of the scornful. THAT person is like this tree mentioned here. This person has been planted by the source of their nourishment, the very food that will cause growth and the bearing of fruit. A tree is and has always been destined to produce a fruit, and whether it is edible or not, reproduction was intended from Genesis. When you are not planted by the source of proper nourishment, you CANNOT fulfil your destiny and will not reach the full potential that God intended for your life. Another key to being in this location is to meditate (ponder by talking to yourself) on God's Word because that in itself is life and also take delight in His law. God knows exactly what you need and the exact moment when you need it. Not only will you produce the fruit in your life that God has intended, but it will be in the exact timing that it was predestined. Now, seasonally in nature, water sources change and there are always different concentration of minerals floating down rivers at different times of the year. When you align your life with God's timing and His agenda, you will receive the nutrition that you need for that moment, ie. His strength, understanding, etc to get you through your situation. This person shall also (or his leaf shall) not wither (be made vile or fall to wickedness). See, when you are directly connected to the source of life, you cannot easliy become disillusioned by the enemy. Whatever you do shall prosper because you are 1. connected to God's resources and 2. in His timing. The rest will fall into place because of your choice to be in God's presence.
Have an awesome day!

This verse especially stood out to me in this chapter...
ReplyDeletePsalm 1:2 "But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night."
Like you said too, if we are strongly connected to God, the source, then we won't easily fall into wickedness.
We need to be so focused on God and in tune with what He wants us to do, and be firmly rooted in the Word daily, like verse 3 says.
Reading the Bible... daily, and praying... daily, and seeking... God daily, are all so important in staying strong in our walk with God.
For me, I know I need to do each of these things a whole lot more, and get to know the heart of God! :)
It is encouraging to know that we are not expected to be some overkill super-dooper fruit producer. All that is expected of us is to be plugged in to the living waters and to delight in it. The word "delight" here in verse 2 means to delight in a pleasant or valuable things. We will produce fruit in season, so in the times that it doesn't seem like God is doing anything in our lives are times to really plug into the waters and get nourished. The more nourishment, the bigger, better and more fruit will be produced when the season comes again.
ReplyDeleteTo meditate means to say aloud to oneself. Rom. 10:17 Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. "Hearing" means to literally hear with the ears, not some figure of speech of "my spiritual ears are tuned in to spiritual stuff", NO, it means to hear with those wrinkly pancakes on the side of your face. So use 'em. Say the Word of God aloud to yourself all day and you will be a Baobob of a tree!
I have read this chapter 3 times within the past week and the verse that continues to stick out to me is verse 2.
ReplyDelete"But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."
I think this verse sticks out to me so much because, this is the year that I have really taken my walk with Christ seriously.
It reminds me of what SHOULD be on my mind and what it is I should delight in. Something that I could definitely work on more.
